What do the Phillies, War and Peace, softball tournaments, work, vacations, and weddings have in common?
At first glance the above subjects may seem to have almost nothing in common, but upon further review the governing board of Birdinhandnews.com has determined that they all may have been to blame for the recent neglect of this website. Now to say that Napoleon and Toltsoy combined with a hint of Uncle Charlie and a splash of “I do’s” are chiefly to blame for Harmon’s demise may be a stretch. Some may suggest that the creators of Birdinhandnews.com are attempting to shift the blame for their inexcusable laziness, but I assure you that is not the case.
Several months ago I sat in my living room reading War and Peace. The French troops were somewhere between Bordinino and Moscow when it dawned on me that not only is this book 5 inches thick, but I’d been reading it for so long I couldn’t exactly remember when I’d started. So I vowed that I wouldn’t update Birdinhandnews.com again until I’d finished the book.
So I read and read but many things kept interrupting my desired goal. First came a bunch of softball. When that was over I fell into the trap of the dream that the Phillies would somehow make the playoffs and win the World Series. So I spent countless hours watching the Phillies and I did receive some pleasure and satisfaction when they did make the playoffs. But their season ended abruptly in the first week in October.
All this baseball, lots of hard work, a few vacations, and the insistence of several of my cousins upon getting married in faraway states, hindered my completion of reading War and Peace and in turn delayed the continuation of updates on birdinhandnews.com.
Now I say on this 16th day of October I have completed Toltsoy’s greatest work and I will resume posting on this website. So to all of you that have left disparaging comments I hope you now see that your anger should not be directed at me, but at that villainous dictator, Napoleon Bonaparte I, for he alone is responsible for the lack of updates on Birdinhandnews.com.
